Gates Mills Police Department
Proud to Serve…Sworn to Protect
From Your Police Department:
November 2014 brings a season of change both to the weather and to the Gates Mills Police Department. Ronald Whitmer, our Police Chief, is retiring after over 31 years of service to the Village of Gates Mills. Ron is excited to move on to the next chapter of his life, spending time with his family, and his newest granddaughter! We appreciate his years of dedication and wish him the best.
With Ron’s retirement, I will continue to serve the Village of Gates Mills as Chief of Police. I am proud to accept this tremendous opportunity and feel both honored and privileged to lead such an exceptional group of men and women as we continue to move forward.
With the holidays rapidly approaching, I want to remind all of you that internet criminals are undoubtedly preparing for the season as well. Please remember to be cautious when purchasing anything over the internet. Shop at established, respected, retailers and always be wary of anything that sounds too good to be true. Never give any personal information that is not needed to complete the transaction; like your social security number. Visit staysafeonline.org if you would like more information about online shopping and general online safety.
This past year we have seen an increase in residents receiving sham letters in the mail and via email. If you are the recipient of anything suspicious, please do not hesitate to contact the police department for help verifying the legitimacy of any communications.
All of us at the Gates Mills Police Department wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
Until next month – Proud to Serve… Sworn to Protect
Yours in Service,
Chief of Police
