Gates Mills

From the Mayor - June 2018
Monday, Aug. 20th

We finally have nice weather! Lush green is everywhere with splashes of colorful flowers. Our parks and gardens are looking great thanks to our hard-working Service Department.

As I write this, we are hard at work preparing for our Community Awareness Day on June 2 at the Village Hall. Thank you to all of the groups who participated in our event. The event wouldn’t be possible without the efforts of Sandra Turner, all of the Department Heads and all of our employees. Thank you to all! We had our groundbreaking for the new family recreation area on May 24th at 2:00 p.m. Contracts for the sitework and the equipment will be authorized during the month of June. There will be a playground, activity panels,
adult fitness equipment, two bocce courts and benches, picnic tables, and walkways. We are very excited to get going!

Clean-up activities in the Village are off to a good start. Shredding day resulted in 4,300 pounds of material being destroyed, while four
pallets of materials were collected on our Hazardous Waste Drop-off Day and was taken to the County facility. These efforts all aid in
making our footprint green.

The Fourth of July Parade planning is underway. This year’s theme is “At Play in the Heart of the Village!” The theme goes hand-in-hand with our new park. You can find more details for the annual parade inside The Pink Sheet. Join us for a wonderful event!

With summer starting, children will be around the Village as they attend various camps. Please be cautious when you drive through the Village as children may be crossing the streets.
