Gates Mills

From the Mayor - May 2017
Thursday, May. 18th

Dear Villagers,

May brings us good news and a close to the home invasion case.  On April 12, the Village was well-represented for the sentencing of the criminal responsible for the invasion.  Our residents gave a heartfelt plea for the maximum sentence.  The judge sentenced him to 34 years in prison.  The apprehension and sentencing of this criminal represents a great win for our community.  I extend a big thank you to everyone who helped with this case.  At our April Council meeting, we honored Police Officer Charlene Strasshofer and Earl Owens, the Rumpke employee who is responsible for the tip to police, with Outstanding Public Service and Outstanding Citizen awards, respectively.  Please be our eyes and ears and call us with what you see that is questionable or doesn’t look right.  We want to hear from you.  When in doubt, CALL.

Our Annual Art Show is underway and looks to be a very good year.  We thank Bob Andreano and his Committee members Sally and Ray Burke, Brenda and Jim Doubrava, Audrey Dvorak, Ann Jackson, Danny Kish, Joanne and Chuck O’Malley, Dan and Marlane Renner, Chuck Seymour, Mitzi Seith and Bob Santoro, all volunteer docents, our Service Department and Community House staff, along with Dorothy, Jean and Janet at Town Hall for all the hard work necessary to have the event.

Our Gates Mills Post Office has a new lease for another five years.  Thank you to Shawn

Riley and Warren Morris for their assistance with the renewal.

As spring is here, please remember more people will be on our streets.  Be watching for cyclists, children and animals as you drive through the Village.
