Police Department
From the Desk of Chief Steve C. Szeredy

Welcome to the Gates Mills Police Department website. Our men and women, "Proud to Serve….Sworn to Protect", live up to our motto faithfully and professionally with our 24 hour a day operation. Our police department was formed when the first Marshall, Charles C. Clark, took office June 20, 1921. The first patrol vehicle, a model A Ford, was bought in 1931, and the first two way radio acquisition in 1947.

With 31 employees, full time police officers, full time dispatchers, supported by our part time police officers, dispatchers, and civilian Auxiliary officers we have the ability to provide safety and security to our unique village. We enjoy a successful partnership with community leaders and residents alike.

Our police department has progressed over the years and currently maintains state of the art equipment, professionally trained sworn law enforcement and civilian employees, along with time honored traditions.

We encourage you to view our Mission Statement as well as Services available to learn more about the Gates Mills Police Department. We hope our website provides information to assist you. We remain committed to our community residents, as well as those who visit or travel within the village.

Please contact us with your questions or comments on our primary phone line, 440-423-4456, Fax 440-423-2002 or our general e-mail address, police@gatesmillsvillage.com.

Thank you for visiting our website.

Sincerely,
