Gates Mills

From the Mayor - December 21/January 22
Thursday, Dec. 9th

Dear Villagers,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. We have so many things in our Village to be
thankful for each and every day.

Our Police Department keeps us safe and informed. They all work diligently for us 24/7, a very big job. Our police
officers are always looking for new ways to help. Officer, Jessica Newsome, will do a safety tips & crime prevention
program in your home. Just call to register.

Our Fire Department is always there when we really need them. Again, they are prepared 24/7 to save us and our
homes. Chief Robinson is happy to check your house and install smoke detectors as needed.

Our Service Department does a beautiful job all year in keeping the village looking good with roads open and
maintained through our nice weather and rain and snow, too. They put up holiday displays and participate in many of
the holiday and community events, maintain our cemeteries and parks, and assist residents whenever possible
throughout the year.

Our Finance Administrator and Town Hall Coordinators are always ready to help you. All of our Gates Mills
employees are willing to help and answer your questions, just ask us.

Our Hanukkah Celebration and Menorah Lighting ceremony took place on Monday, November 29th at 5:30 p.m.
in the park across the street from Town Hall. Thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed our celebration of lights.
The Christmas Eve Bonfire with Santa is provided by the Judy Bell Committee and the Gates Mills Improvement
Society at the Polo Field. Santa arrives at 4 p.m. sharp and runs from 4-5:30 p.m.

The Village will be collecting used and/or broken holiday lights and extension cords in support of Lights for Lions.
This program is run by the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, who will recycle the lights and donate the proceeds to the
Ruaha Carnivore Project and Lion Landscapes who are partner organizations working on conservation efforts for big
cats in Tanzania. Now thru January 15th, please drop off holiday lights & cords in marked boxes at Community House
& Town Hall vestibule. Together we can help protect wildlife and divert more waste from landfills.

Sandra, Chip and I are working on our Master Planning process. We are still looking for more volunteers. See the
invitation in this Pink Sheet, and you can call the Town Hall or email me to volunteer.

Our Village is a treasure and I thank all of our residents and volunteers who make it such a jewel. Let’s hope that we
soon can all get back to our normal, wonderful Village life.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year 2022 to everyone!
