Dear Villagers,

Happy, Healthy New Year!

Our weather certainly has been different during December and early January. We had to cancel our annual Christmas Eve Bonfire Event, which was very disappointing for so many. Regardless, a big thank you to our Improvement Society and Service Department for their efforts. We hope for better weather in 2023.

Our annual Christmas House Decorating contest was a big hit with lots of beautiful entries in five categories. The winners are on our website with awards and pictures noted. The winners received gift certificates from Sara’s. There were many more beautifully decorated homes that did not enter…hope you will all participate next year.

I am looking forward to 2023 as lots of projects are under way. We received money from both the State and County to upgrade the Community House lower-level bathrooms and doors to make them ADA compliant and more attractive. The outside bathrooms by the tennis courts will also receive a long-needed update. We have finally acquired the money to replace the Mayfield Road culvert. This improvement will address an ongoing flooding issue dating back to the 1990’s.

The Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee met in September, November and January. There is strong consensus on many of the plan’s goals and objectives. But there are areas needing further discussion as well. Facilitated discussions will continue through the winter. I appreciate the commitment shown in this process by our village volunteers. A Town Hall meeting to review the draft Comprehensive Plan is expected in April.

The Pink Sheet provides lots of event information from our various community groups. There is a lot to do in the village…family movie nights, theater, yoga, summer camps, art show, 4th of July Parade and so much more. I encourage your participation in our community organizations and events as it is a fun way to meet fellow villagers and give back to your community.
