Gates Mills

From the Mayor - July/August 2020
Monday, Jul. 6th

Our Village is so beautiful this time of year, with greenery and flowers everywhere. This summer is so different and unusual for all of us. I know we are all tired of COVID-19. The risk of getting it and spreading is still out there. I get counts every day from Hillcrest. The numbers have gone down and up a little. IT IS NOT GONE! Please continue to wear masks and social distance. It works! We can work with this.

RITA (Regional Income Tax Authority) is our new income tax administrator as of July 1. There was an article in the Chagrin Valley Times that was inaccurate. They are going to print a correction and state the transition is effective July 1. If you have any questions, please call RITA at 800-860-7482 or Town Hall at 440-423-4405.

We continue to get questions about trash and recycling. ALL BOXES, LARGE AND SMALL, MUST BE COLLAPSED for pick-up.

Unfortunately, our July Summer Band Concert is cancelled due to COVID-19. We are considering holding one in the fall.

The Nature Camp is running in the Village. They are following all State and Health Department guidelines. It is going great! Please always watch out for children when driving throughout the Village.

Our Gates Mills Improvement Society has been working very hard to bring you a July 4th celebration. New contests, an online history of parades and a drive-by your house parade are all planned. The drive-by parade map and timeline are in this Pink Sheet and on our website, www.gatesmillsvillage.com. I look forward to seeing you!

With August right around the corner, we must remember schools will be starting, we hope!

Happy Independence Day and have a safe and enjoyable summer
