Gates Mills

From the Mayor - June 2019
Monday, Jun. 3rd

Summer is a few weeks away. Spring has moved very fast with lots of rain and lots of lush green!

Our Service Department and Town Hall staff are working hard on the last touches to our new
Marston Park! Our opening and ribbon cutting is set for June 23 at 12:00 p.m. I hope everyone
will come to see what we now have. There are so many people to thank for hard work,
donations, and attention to details. We have an asset to be proud of for many years to come.
Details for the Grand Opening on June 23 are located within the Pink Sheet.

To our nighttime walkers, runners, and dog walkers, please remember to wear reflective or bright
colors so that drivers are able to see you. Black clothing makes it very difficult, even with
headlights, to spot those out enjoying the Village. Drivers please be aware and watch out for our
after dark pedestrians.

You will be hearing more about our new master planning project. The first step is for us to select
a consultant to work with and then we hope to involve the entire Village in the process. A
Master Plan is a long-term guide for what we want for our community in the future. It is a policy
document or guide that lays out the visions and goals for the Village, while the zoning code
provides the specific rules and required steps for development, building and uses.

The Fourth of July Parade planning is underway. This year’s theme is “The Beauty of Liberty!”
You can find more details for the annual parade inside The Pink Sheet. Join us for a wonderful
event!

Finally, with summer starting, children will be around the Village as they attend various camps.
Please be cautious when you drive through the Village as children may be crossing the streets.
