Gates Mills

From the Mayor - June 2020
Monday, Jun. 1st

Dear Villagers,

While Mother Nature is again working her magic this spring to beautify Gates Mills, COVID 19 has
impacted all of us. We’re adjusting accordingly. All of our services, retail establishments and community
organizations have successfully adapted to the necessary restrictions.

As summer approaches and we all adjust to our new normal, we need to remain extra diligent to the
Governor’s ever changing updates on how we interact. These updates are based on science, and we must
support them. So please continue social distancing, stay home when necessary, follow proper hygiene and
wear masks when interacting with others.

Regarding a sign of current village business, we had our May Council meeting via Zoom. It went fine, yet
meeting in person is more effective. Seeing everyone’s gestures and body expressions adds so much to
the discussion. We hope to hold future meetings together following all social distancing protocols
established by the State, County, and CDC. Whether via Zoom, other remote programs, or in person, we
encourage all of our community organizations to continue their valuable work.

At this time due to social distancing and remote meetings, village residents can follow us online. You can
join many of these meetings via Zoom by following the links on the village website to watch the
livestream on YouTube.

The Village is very lush this time of year and our service department is hard at work cleaning up from a
very rainy season. Thank you for your continued hard work.

You should soon get your welcome letter from RITA (Regional Income Tax Authority). It will also be
printed in the Pink Sheet. If you have any questions, please call the numbers listed in the letter.

Our Long Range Financial Committee and subcommittees have begun meeting, and we will keep you
updated as to their progress.

Our Improvement Society July 4th Committee is working hard to bring you a new event as we are unable
to hold our traditional Parade due to the virus. Information will be coming soon by letter and in the Pink
Sheet.

The Nature Camp is working hard to provide a new outdoor camp program following the latest State
protocols. Updates will follow soon.

Now that our children are playing outside more and more people are walking, please be extra careful as
you are driving. To our residents who are exercising in the evenings, please wear visible safety apparel.
