Gates Mills
Hello Villagers,
As summer arrives, our Village comes alive with a renewed sense of energy, community, and celebration. This year carries particular significance as we prepare to mark a truly remarkable milestone—the 200th anniversary of the Village of Gates Mills. Two centuries of history, stewardship, and shared community spirit are something we can all take pride in.
Our annual Fourth of July celebration will be especially meaningful this year as it coincides not only with our bicentennial festivities, but also with our nation’s 250th anniversary. It is a rare and special moment when local and national history intersect, reminding us of the enduring values that shape both our Village and our country.
In honor of this extraordinary occasion, we are excited to introduce a new and memorable addition to the celebration—a series of hot air balloon rides prior to the Fourth of July festivities. These rides will not be open to general reservation, but rather will serve as a unique way to recognize members of our community who have truly made a difference.
We invite residents to nominate individuals who have consistently “risen to the occasion” and gone “above and beyond” in service to the Village of Gates Mills. These may be neighbors, volunteers, or community members whose quiet dedication, generosity, and commitment have helped make our Village such a special place to live.
From the nominations received, a small group of three to five honorees will be selected to enjoy this unforgettable experience—soaring above the Village they serve as a symbol of our collective appreciation.
How to nominate:
- Submit nominations online at www.gatesmillsvillage.com, or
- Drop off a nomination at Town Hall
We encourage you to take a few moments to recognize those who have made a lasting impact on our community.
As we prepare for this summer’s celebrations, I hope you will join your family, friends, and neighbors in reflecting on our shared history while looking forward to our future. Gates Mills has always been defined by its people—their care for one another, their sense of place, and their willingness to contribute to something greater than themselves.
I look forward to celebrating together on the Fourth of July and throughout this special bicentennial year.
With gratitude and best wishes for a wonderful summer,
