Gates Mills

From the Mayor - June '23
Wednesday, May. 31st

Dear Villagers,

Gates Mills is once again lush, green and beautiful. June’s arrival means Summer is coming, school is ending, and camps are starting right around the corner. As you enjoy driving through the Village, please be extra aware of children playing outside and more people out walking.

Our highly regarded Nature Camp is again sold out and starting up June 5th-9th with preschoolers. All other campers will begin June 12th through July 21st.

On May 16th we had our last Comprehensive Advisory Committee Meeting at the Community House. The meeting went great. The process has been very successful. Soon the final recommendations will be presented to the Mayor and Council for careful review. The plan will be available on our Village website. I personally want to thank the Advisory Committee for all their dedication and countless hours devoted to the Comprehensive Plan.

We are very excited about our soon to open new coffee shop Addie’s Cup . The target date for opening is June 5th. Laura, the owner, has spent many years with Gates Mills residents and can’t wait to introduce you to a really happy place filled with great drinks, food, and service.

We invite all Villagers to attend the Gates Mills Historical Society’s Annual Meeting and Cocktail Party at The Community House featuring “The Signs Of Our Times”, June 9th from 6-8pm., a unique opportunity to buy a cherished piece of Gates Mills history. The street signs that have adorned your streets for decades
will be sold on a first come first serve basis. See the June Pink Sheet for more information. Hope to see you all there.

Questions have come up about a “Safe Area” in Gates Mills. I want everyone to know that Gates Mills hasa “Safe Area” in the Town Hall vestibule. You can enter and bolt the door. There is a camera and a call button directly connected to our Chagrin Valley Dispatch Center. Stop and take a look when you are near the Town Hall.

We also want to inform you that we have a Drug Take Back Box available throughout the year. It is located on the back porch of Town Hall (the side of Town Hall closest to the Community House) and is used to collect unwanted drugs.

We encourage you to get involved in our community organizations and upcoming events that are sure to make this a great summer in Gates Mills. As always, please call Town Hall with any questions you may have.
