Gates Mills

From the Mayor - May, 2018
Wednesday, May. 9th

Dear Villagers,

May is, at long last, delivering our spring weather!  The daffodils have finally bloomed!  Springtime always means our Art Show has been taking place.  It had a very good run and was nicely attended.  We thank Bob Andreano and Art Show Committee members Sally and Ray Burke, Brenda and Jim Doubrava, Audrey Dvorak, Ann Jackson, Danny Kish, Joanne and Chuck O’Malley, Irene and Walter Oliver, Dan and Marlane Renner, Mitzi Seith, Bob Santoro and Mary and Tom Stokes, all volunteer docents, our Service Department and Community House staff, along with Dorothy, Jean and Janet at Town Hall for all the hard work necessary to have the event.

With our weather getting better, all of our outside work begins.  Cleaning, painting, pruning and all maintenance helps to keep our Village neat and appealing.  This leads to good real estate values and sales. It really does benefit us all.

We have received word from the County that our joint Cedar Road project has received funding!  It is a $1,200,000 rebuild of Cedar Road from S.O.M. to Woodstock.  The County funds 80% of the project with Gates Mills and Hunting Valley sharing the remaining 20%.

Our playground area is becoming a reality.  We have renderings in the Town Hall and are busy putting our request for proposals out.  Once received, the work will commence!  The area will include a playground, bocce courts, walkways, picnic tables, bleachers and more.  We are excited to break ground!

We are asking pet owners to call Dorothy or Jean at Town Hall to update your pet information.  We have a great team of animal lovers and your information can help us get a lost pet back home to you sooner.

Lastly, please save the date of June 2, 2018 for our Community Awareness Day from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  The event is primarily for our residents; however, we are reaching out to families thinking of moving to Gates Mills also.  Please mark your calendars and join us for food and fun!
