Gates Mills

From the Mayor - October, 2017
Monday, Oct. 2nd

Dear Villagers,

Our summer has hung on and maybe our fall will last longer as well. While we have been fortunate in Ohio, we extend our prayers to all of the people in the areas recently affected by the horrible weather events.  Hopefully the restoration of these areas will progress quickly.  Our Service Department has been working hard to keep the Village looking fantastic through the maintenance of fences in the Village cemeteries along with adding steps and a gathering spot to the park across the street from Village Hall.  A big thank you is given to the staff for their efforts.  With the Village’s new maintenance code in effect, we, the Village, also intend to comply.

The third annual Healthy Mayfield event will be held on Wednesday, October 4 from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. at the Mayfield High School Wildcat Stadium.  Please join us for this free event.  You can see more details in this issue.

The Village’s Halloween Party will be held on Friday, October 20th and will be filled with lots of children in wonderful costumes, treats for all, games, and Outback Ray and his exotic animals!  Special thanks to Joycelyn Brogley and Doug Webb for organizing the party along with all of our party volunteers. Also a big thank you is given to our Service Department, Town Hall Coordinators and Community Building staff for all of the work preparing and setting up the party and operating the hayride.

Not getting event reminders e-mailed to you?  Please sign up for Gates Mills Connect on our website, www.gatesmillsvillage.com.  This is a way for the Village to communicate events, information and news items to our residents.  If you prefer, you may call Janet Mulh at Town Hall with your name and email address and she will register for you.

“Your911” is a new app that will be used for emergency notifications and calling 911 from your smartphone.  A recent information night was held on September 14th and another will be held very soon. Please attend to find out all of the capabilities the app can perform. We will be phasing out our current “Code Red” system at the beginning of 2018.  This app has your cellular call going DIRECTLY to our dispatch center.

Thank you to our Community Club for hosting a great barbeque.  It was a very nice event and the evening was beautiful.  Thank you to all who participated in the effort benefitting The Pink Sheet.

Happy Halloween to everyone!
