Gates Mills

Dear Villagers,

Our summer has gone by fast!  Fall is on the horizon after a very active July and August!  July brought us our wonderful July 4th Parade.  The Gates Mills Improvement Society does a fantastic job organizing and funding our special traditions.  Your membership is vital in order to keep the Parade, Christmas Eve, and other supported events alive.

The Nature Camp had a great 8-week run.  The weather was good for all planned events.  I received many positive compliments, feedback and letters about the Camp and the staff.

We had our Annual Summer Band Concert on Sunday, July 22.  It is always a lovely event.  The new band, Red Light Roxy was terrific!  There were balloons, ice cream, popcorn and sidewalk chalk available for all to enjoy.  We would love to have more people come out for the event.  Please call me with any ideas or suggestions.  New ideas are always welcome.

I completed the return of archived house plans to every house we had them for.  In doing this, I discovered we have a problem that I am really worried about.  We contract with Mayfield Village for EMS services.  House numbers on some mailboxes are not readable or may be missing a number.  Some homes have no mailbox, therefore a yardmarker with the house number should be clearly visible from the street.  Everyone needs to have a number.  Gone are the days of just knowing each house by name.  If you are on a street that is a through street, it needs to be visible from both directions.  Please replace your numbers if they are in disrepair or unreadable.  When you need EMS and they cannot find your house number, your safety is at risk!

Schools are back in session, please watch for busses and children in your travels.

Looking and hoping for one of our beautiful fall seasons!
