Dear Villagers,

Happy, Healthy New Year!

We are certainly making up for not having much snow in December. Our Service Department is working very hard to keep our roads open.

In December we had a wonderful Christmas Eve Bonfire Event that was very well attended. The horse cart ride was a big hit with all ages. Thank you to our Improvement Society and Service Department.

New this season we had a Christmas House Decorating Contest with five categories. The winners are on our website with awards and pictures noted. The winners received gift certificates from Sara’s. There were many more homes beautifully decorated that didn’t enter…hope you all will participate next year.

Our Comprehensive Village Plan is finally getting underway. Sandra Turner and Chip Auwerter are chairing the project. They are doing a great job organizing everything with the help of CT Consultants, a leading firm in this space. This project is going to be very enlightening and important to the future of our Village. Already, a very rewarding and fun part is getting more and more of our fellow residents participating in the various committees involved with the project. If you are interested in learning more and getting involved, please contact me or the Town Hall.

The Pink Sheet provides lots of event information from our various community groups. Normally there is a lot to do…family movie nights, theater, yoga, summer camps, art show, and so much more. When available again due to COVID restrictions, I encourage your participation in our community organizations and events as it is a fun way to meet fellow villagers and give back to your community. Other ways of accessing this information is via the Villagewebsite, www.gatesmillsvillage.com and Gates Mills Connect, our email system for event reminders and Village information. If you haven’t done so, take a moment and register on our website for Gates Mills Connect.

These are indeed unusual times due to COVID. We all need to help each other as best we can.
