Gates Mills
Hello Villagers,
As the golden hues of September settle over our village, I’m reminded of the energy and warmth that define Gates Mills—not just in our scenic surroundings, but in the spirit of our community. This month brings several opportunities to come together, stay informed, and support initiatives that strengthen our shared future.
Gates Mills Elementary 5K Run – September 21
Mark your calendars for a lively morning hosted by the Gates Mills Elementary Parent Teacher Club. The inaugural 5K Run, Fox Trot, will take place on Sunday, September 21. There will be a 50-yard dash for children 8 and under or a 1 Mile Fun Run for those 12 and under. Kids races start at 8:30 a.m. The 5K begins at 9:00 a.m. Whether you're running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, your participation helps support school programs and fosters community pride. See the Pink Sheet article for more information.
Candidates Night – September 25
The Gates Mills Improvement Society will host its Candidates Night forum on Thursday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Community House. This is a valuable opportunity to meet the individuals running for elected office, hear their perspectives, and ask questions about the issues that matter most to you. Civic engagement is the cornerstone of our village’s strength—please consider attending.
Senior Services Interest Survey – Final Call
Thank you to all who have already submitted the Senior Services Interest Survey. Your feedback is instrumental in shaping future programs that support aging in place, transportation, health, and social connection. If you haven’t yet completed your survey, we encourage you to do so by September 30. Surveys can be returned to Village Hall or submitted online. Every voice counts.
Chagrin Valley Gig (CVG) -Office Hours
The Village partnership with Chagrin Valley Gig to bring buried fiber optic internet to all residences in the Village is underway. CVG will begin holding office hours in the Council Chambers in Town Hall. See their ad in the Pink Sheet or refer to the Village online calendar for specific hours.
As always, I welcome your thoughts and ideas. Whether it’s a concern about infrastructure or a suggestion for a new community event, your input helps guide our work. Let’s continue building a village that reflects the care, creativity, and commitment of its residents.
