Gates Mills
Hello Villagers,
Welcome to the fall season - a time of vibrant colors, festive decorations, crisp mornings, and the comforting aroma of apple pies. Living in the Village and in the Midwest gives us the gift of experiencing this beautiful time of year simply by stepping outside, strolling through our community, or attending local festivals and clambakes.
October also marks the lead-up to our November elections. We’re fortunate to have six dedicated villagers volunteering their time and talents to run for four open Council seats. I’d like to extend heartfelt thanks to Laurie Deacon and Michael Press for their four years of service. Both have chosen not to seek re-election.
The Candidate Forum, held on September 25 and organized by the Improvement Society, provided a valuable opportunity for residents to ask questions and hear directly from all six candidates. If you missed it, the forum was recorded and is available on the Improvement Society’s website.
Also on the November ballot is the position of Village Treasurer, which is uncontested. Dixon Morgan, our current Treasurer, will not be seeking re-election. We are grateful to Dixon for his service over the past two years.
Finally, voters will see Issue 10 on the ballot—a renewal of one of the Village’s three operating levies. These funds go directly toward Village operations and are a vital part of our revenue. This is the sixth renewal.
Please remember to vote on November 4th.
I hope to see you around the Village this fall—perhaps at the Halloween party on October 24th !
