Join us at the Gates Mills Branch Library for a discussion of *Remarkable Creatures* by Tracy Chevelier. When Mary Anning uncovers an unusual fossilized skeleton in the cliffs near her home on the English coast, she sets the religious fathers on edge, the townspeople to vicious gossip, and the scientific world alight. Luckily, Mary finds an unlikely champion in prickly Elizabeth Philpot, and in the struggle to be recognized in the wider world, Mary and Elizabeth discover that friendship is their greatest ally. Everyone is welcomed to attend the discussion.

Kindergarten Readiness--Shapes. Children ages 4 - 5 with a caregiver are welcomed to the Gates Mills Branch Library to help your preschooler make the transition into their first year of school. Explore hands-on activity stations together. This specific program, offered on two different days, will focus on shapes and strengthen math and literacy skills.

Safety tips for trick-or-treaters:

• Supervise the outing for children under age 12.
• Make full use of flashlights and glow sticks.
• Wear clothing that is bright, reflective, and flame retardant.
• Avoid masks that can obstruct a child's vision.
• Inspect all candy before allowing children to eat it.
