Did you ever wonder how important bees really are to nature?  Or how hard it is to be a beekeeper?  Gaughan Bee Dancin' will talk about bees, their importance to our food supply, and also a little bit about beekeeping as an entrepreneur at the Gates Mills Branch Library .

The Friends of the Gates Mills Branch Library features an artist in the branch every two months.  Barbara Benedict will be featured starting April 27th and the show will run for approximately six weeks during library hours.  Barbara specializes in Plein Art studies.  A free artist reception with light refreshments will be held on Sunday April 27th from 2:00-4:00 p.m.  Come meet the artist and discuss her work. 

Join us at the Gates Mills Branch Library for a discussion of Don't Sleep There Are Snakes:  Life and Language in teh Amazonian Jungle by Daniel L. Everett.  A linguist recounts his experiences with the Pirahaa, a small tribe of Amazonian Indians living in central Brazil whose language defies accepted linguistic theories and reflects a culture that has no counting system and lives entirely in the present.  Everyone is welcomed to attend the discussion. 

Join us at the Gates Mills Branch Library for a discussion of Wilson by A. Scott Berg.  This is an intimate portrait of our 28th president, covering both his personal and private life.  At over 700 pages, we are covering parts 1 and 2 in April and parts 3 & 4 in May.  Everyone is welcomed to attend the discussion. 

May is National Foster Care month and there is an urgent need for qualified foster care parents. Join us at the Gates Mills Branch Library as representatives from Applewood Centers present information on the requirements and pre-training needed to become a foster parent.
